Restaurant & Food Review

[A Dose Of Nostalgia!] @ The Granary Kitchen + Bar

Penulis: Admin, pada Sep 19, 2019

Old school looking cafes/restaurants are one of the attractions that tourists and locals love to visit; be it to ‘check in’ on their social media platforms or to indulge in delicious food or just seeking for one to reminisce about. Back to the good old days, shall we?

Dining at The Granary Kitchen + Bar is a one-of-a-kind experience that engages the public’s imagination with its iconic look that exudes an old school rustic charm and imparts a sense of history. Founded by Joanne Chin and Emily Sit, two Malaysians who met while studying in New Zealand, they both put together a team of culinary experts from different parts of the world to prepare top notch Western food.

Located on Wayang Street which runs parallel to Carpenter street in the heart of Kuching city, The Granary was once a grain warehouse in the 1900s. The Granary was tastefully renovated into a large dining hall, maintaining much of the original brickwork and finished with recycled doors and windows; perfect for nostalgic souls who crave a dining experience set during an earlier, simpler time. While the space is also a favorite setting for private events of all kinds including photoshoots and weddings, it is also a popular spot for casual diners to enjoy the vintage space.

Catering for lunch, dinner and drinks, customers can order familiar dishes and some of Kuching’s best burgers and pizza. A wide selection of alcoholic drinks are available too, such as beer, cider, imported wine and cocktails. The Granary also houses live music performances, art exhibitions and workshops - and a glass of Tuak is the perfect ingredient to get those creative juices flowing.
