By Ashley Sim May Yee on Oct 13, 2018
If you’ve ever been to Singapore, then you probably heard of the famous “328 Katong Laksa” which beat celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsay at the SingTel Hawker Heroes Challenge which took place at Newton Food Centre. Due to beating Ramsay that made 328 Katong Laksa extra famous, they are now known as the ‘No. 1 Laksa in Singapore’. They even got recommended in the 2016 & 2017 Singapore’s Michelin guide (the world’s most prestigious gourmet guide book)!
Because of 328 Katong Laksa’s big success in Singapore, they now chose Sarawak as their first choice in establishing their first outlet in overseas franchise, which made them the only one in Sarawak which is related to Michelin.
Located at iCom Square, 328 Katong Laksa offers a variety of laksa in their menu. Most of their ingredients are imported from Singapore in order to maintain the authentic taste of Singapore food. What we recommend is their Premium Prawn Laksa which consists of succulent premium grade prawns, fried tofus, fish cakes, and half hard-boiled egg. In Katong laksa, the rice vermicelli are normally cut up into smaller pieces so that the entire dish can be eaten with a spoon alone, without chopsticks or a fork. As for the delicious and aromatic soup, it is the epitome of balance in taste and texture coming from all of the ingredients such as coconut milk, chili, dried shrimps, and herbs. And if you want more heat, add a spoonful of their tasty Singapore sambal chili. What’s more, they even have Giant Prawn Laksa (180g-200g x 2pcs) and Super Giant Prawn Laksa (300g-350g x 2pcs) on their menu! Go try!
Besides Laksa, they are also known for their mouth-watering Mee Siam, Prawn Noodle, Curry Chicken Rice, and Singapore Hainanese Chicken Rice. Plus, if you have a small appetite for breakfast, try their Kaya Butter Toast. For only RM3, it has an appetising crispy crunch, which consists of a melt-in-your mouth layer of olive-green kaya, and a generous dollop of butter. Pair it with their Singapore iced coffee, which can instantly lift up your Monday blue!
Aside from the dishes pictured here, there are many more other delicious dishes that you can try in their menu too. In time, 328 Katong Laksa will be selling over 20 kinds of Singapore food.
So head over to 328 Katong Laksa with your family and friends today to try the famous ‘No. 1 Laksa in Singapore’.
